Addis Ababa - Vocational training

Project goals

Poor and often single mothers receive vocational training as domestic workers. Afterwards, they earn a better income, can live independently and care for their children.

Project information

  • Target group: Mothers, young women
  • Region: Addis Ababa (capital)
  • Partner: AGOCHA (formerly AGOHELMA)
  • Duration: Ongoing: Two six-month training courses per year

 

Measures

  • Selection: In consultation with local authorities and neighborhood groups, particularly poor women are identified.
  • Training: The women receive six months of training as cooks and domestic workers. The curriculum includes traditional and international cuisine, housekeeping, infant care, and childcare.
  • Networking: We help graduates find a job quickly after their training by leveraging our contacts with previous course participants and employers.
