Annual Report 2024

4. April 2025
Coverbild Jahresbericht 2024

How does 40 francs change a family's life? Why do women's savings groups contribute to equality? How do you create opportunities for children from extremely poor families?

Our 2024 Annual Report highlights our "Help for Self-Development" initiative and why solidarity, from human to human, is especially important now.

In 2024, we completed a major project – after nine years of intensive collaboration with the local population: Today, thousands of families in the Abaya and Gelana districts live independently, with their own income, clean water, and a functioning agricultural system. An evaluation confirmed these successes .

At the same time, our new project begins in Raphe: a district deep in the south of Ethiopia, characterized by hunger, a lack of infrastructure – and the people’s strong will for change.

In the 2024 Annual Report you will find:

  • Who we are: General information about the Menschen für Menschen Foundation
  • What we achieved: Progress and successes in our projects
  • The figures: Annual financial statements, balance sheet, annual financial statements, cash flow statement and the audit report of Aeberli Treuhand AG
  • Our tasks this year – with a focus on family planning in the new project area Raphe

Hunger is a daily reality on farms. Only one percent of families eat three meals a day. Seven out of ten households suffer from food shortages for about half the year. This is the situation in the Hambela Wamena district of southern Ethiopia. Menschen für Menschen is helping families to sustainably improve their situation.

About the foundation

Helping people help themselves in one of the poorest countries on earth – this simple but effective principle has been used by Menschen für Menschen Switzerland for the people of Ethiopia for over 30 years. In that time there has been a lot of progress, but a large number of the population still lives in poverty today.
