"It's like a dream," says Etagegnhu Wolderufael: "My children have a future. That's more than I could have expected from life."
The mother of three boys is proud that we were able to release her family from our children's project in Debre Berhan at the turn of the year – along with 747 other children. For three years, we provided close and comprehensive care to 1,000 children from 442 families. At the turn of the year, we were able to end support for three-quarters of these children – because, thanks to our efforts, their families are no longer among the poorest in the city and can now independently create a decent existence for themselves.
This is a huge success – all the more so in a year that was particularly difficult due to the Corona crisis, the war in northern Ethiopia and the associated significant increase in food prices.
Our success is thanks to our Ethiopian employees, who interact with the poor families on an equal footing every day. Their commitment is crucial in all projects: It's why the rocky Fogera is turning green and why Abaya's coffee farmers are receiving more money for their beans. It's why you can now see banana orchards and wheat fields along the Gibe River in Seka District.
In the 2021 Annual Report you will find:

- Performance report: progress and successes in our projects
- Financial report: annual financial statements, balance sheet, annual financial statements, cash flow statement and audit report
- Outlook for 2022: These successes encourage us to launch new three-year project cycles and further expand our support. In the rural districts of Abaya and Gelana, we are introducing people in 14 new communities to adapted agricultural methods. In the city of Debre Berhan, we are expanding our children's project, supporting 1,200 children in the future.
