Adam Yitay, 22: „When I was 13, I came to Addis Ababa to work as a housemaid. I thought I could support my mother and attend night school at the same time. But that was impossible because of all the work. At last I was earning 1000 Birr per month (the equivalent of 20 francs). My family planned to send me to Arabia. But I didn't want to because I had heard how other Ethiopian women were abused there. I see this training here as a stepping stone. You can start small. Like a seed that grows into a big tree. I am learning here how to make the many spice mixtures for Ethiopian cuisine. I see a niche for me to open a business."
