The poorest families suffered particularly in 2023 - on the one hand from climate change, on the other hand from the inflation of the national currency, the Birr. In the south of the country there were droughts and crop failures. Food prices rose dramatically across the country. Many people spent practically their entire income on food. In the state of Amhara, ethnic tensions hampered our projects.
Nevertheless, we were able to turn thousands of families around: they came out of hardship and into a life of dignity. "Every individual has the same right to life, dignity and security as any of us. We must stand up for that," said Karlheinz Böhm, whose 10th death anniversary we will mark in 2024. In this annual report, we will give an account of what we achieved in this regard in 2023. And we will provide information about our plans for 2024. Our new project area, Hambela Wamena, also shows how urgently people for people are still needed. The fact that we can continue our work for more justice is thanks to the commitment of our donors and supporters. We are grateful for that.
In the 2023 Annual Report you will find:
- General information about the Foundation Menschen für Menschen
- Performance report: progress and successes in our projects
- Financial report: annual financial statements, balance sheet, annual accounts, cash flow statement and audit report
- Outlook 2024: We have started a new project area in the Hambela Wamena district in southern Ethiopia. Most people have too little to eat and very few have drinking water. That is why food security and spring catchment are priorities
The annual report is only published in German. You can download it as as a PDF here:
