Menschen für Menschen Switzerland is focused on stopping impoverishment in towns and rural areas
and on creating livelihood opportunities.
There are several ways you can help people in Ethiopia. Here you will find all donations with concrete examples.
Cradle of humanity, country of origin of coffee, rich culture and poor families. Over 100 million people live here: A visit to a contradictory country.
Cornèrcard has supported the Menschen für Menschen Foundation since 2010. In collaboration with Cornèrcard, Rolf Knie designed six credit cards featuring different animals and circus themes. Every time the cardholder pays using the Rolf Knie card, a contribution goes to the “ABC-2015” education project. Cornèrcard donates 0.2% of every purchase made by the cardholder using the card directly to Aid for Ethiopia. At no extra cost to the cardholder. Thank you very much!
“We are delighted to have been able to help in some small way with the building of schools in Ethiopia,” says Alessandro Seralvo, Director of Cornèrcard.
The USM company sponsored all the furniture for the offices of Menschen für Menschen Switzerland. Many, many thanks.
Star chef Tanja Grandits and 19 friends and colleagues launched the recipe book ‘Schweizer Spitzenköche für Afrika‘ (Top Swiss Chefs for Africa). The profits are earmarked for the foundation’s educational sector. The Swiss star chefs for Africa are planning many more activities in the future to raise as much money as possible for the foundation. Thank you very much
The trainees at Aroma Productions AG designed and built a trade fair stand for Menschen für Menschen free of charge. It provides an impressive setting for greeting interested parties at events and telling them about our projects in Ethiopia. Thank you very much!
As honorary president of the Menschen für Menschen Switzerland Foundation and a close friend of Karlheinz Böhm, the Swiss artist has been a supporter of the help in Ethiopia and its cause from the start.
For example, Rolf Knie supports the Menschen für Menschen Foundation with his Salto Natale Circus. All proceeds from the benefit event went to fund projects in Ethiopian. All employees of Salto Natale – from artists to ushers – give their time freely for this evening, and Rolf and Gregory Knie will provide the infrastructure free of charge. Rolf Knie visited the Menschen für Menschen project areas in Ethiopia in April 2010.
Thanks to the generous support of Swiss coffee roaster Badilatti, Menschen für Menschen was able to serve the finest Ethiopian coffee at the Gourmesse trade fair. Cafè Badilatti provided the foundation with the ‘Mocca’ coffee and equipment for free. The family business from Zuoz near St. Moritz has had a reputation for high quality coffee for three generations. Thank you very much.
Gourmesse, the trade fair for gourmets, provided the Menschen für Menschen Foundation with an exhibition stand at the Kongresshaus Zürich exhibition centre from 2009-2011. This platform enabled the Menschen für Menschen Foundation to tell visitors to Gourmesse about its projects and aims over a cup of finest Ethiopian coffee. Thank you very much!
The Odd Fellows Solothurn, founded in 1975, belongs to the international Odd Fellows Order, which carries out humanitarian and philanthropic work around the globe and has over 300,000 members.
In 2007 the Odd Fellows Solothurn supported a Menschen für Menschen job training project in Ethiopia. Donations were collected for Ethiopian relief through lectures held in schools and various fundraising activities. The crowning event was a charity gala with over 300 guests in Landhaus Solothurn. The Odd Fellows were able to hand over the considerable sum of CHF 136,0000 to Almaz and Karlheinz Böhm on this occasion.
In 2008, four Odd Fellows visited the project regions in Ethiopia for which they collected donations.
In January 2012, editor-in-chief Lucia Eppmann and photographer Peter Würmli visited the projects in Ethiopia. They were so inspired by their trip that they’ve been reporting regularly in the weekly Stadtanzeiger Winterthur newspaper about Ethiopia and the foundation since then and encouraging their readers to donate. The highlight of their campaign was the benefit event in November 2012 with Almaz Böhm and Rolf Knie, who gave an account of their involvement in Ethiopia. Thank you very much!
Following a charity event with Karlheinz Böhm in December 2005, the Rheintal Junior Chamber of Commerce (RJW), one of 75 local ‘Junior Chambers International’ in Switzerland, launched various activities to raise funds in the Werdenberg region and the Principality of Liechtenstein in order to finance the building of three schools. Four members of the RJW visited the Menschen für Menschen project areas in 2006.
2006 wasn’t just a special anniversary for Karlheinz Böhm’s Ethiopian charity. It was also the year that marked the 10th birthday of Basel hi-fi specialist Gramophone 2010. For every piece of hi-fi equipment sold by Gramophone 2010, 5 CHF was donated to the Menschen für Menschen Foundation. At the beginning of 2008 it handed over the respectable sum of CHF 11,398 to the foundation. Thank you very much!
Urs Graf, Gramophone 2010 owner, said: “Our wholehearted support goes to Karlheinz Böhm and his foundation because we know that every franc will go directly to where it’s needed.”
Gottlieber Spezialitäten AG has been supporting the Menschen für Menschen Foundation with the sale of limited Rolf Knie designer tins since 2011. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the Gottlieber designer tins will benefit water projects in Ethiopia. Thank you very much!
Long-established wine company Pieroth Romanet joined forces with Rolf Knie to conduct a fundraising campaign on behalf of the foundation. Rolf Knie designed a unique wine label for one of their exclusive wines. For every bottle sold, two Swiss francs were donated to the foundation. The fundraising campaign was a great success with both wine enthusiasts and art lovers. Thank you for your support!
